Because of a busy agenda, I've been lacking time to update the English news feed. Please look at the Dutch news feed to see photos of and read about Mirtillo and Aoide competing in agility, on the race track and in the show ring.

Sunday September 22nd was the 'Brussel's dog show', the largest show in Belgium. There were 24 Basenjis entered under judge O. Meyer. Unfortunately he took only little time to judge the Basenjis. Aoide still performed wel though and earned a 1 Excellent in intermediate class and her first Belgian CAC! We didn't take any pictures this time, but we do have two small videos of Aoide in the ring.
Saturday September 21st was the Dutch Basenji Speciality organized by the Dutch Basenji Club. Aoide was entered in intermediate class and was rewarded with a 1 Excellent. Judge was Mrs. E.J. Weijenborg-Weggemans and this was her opinion about Aoide: "1.5 year, a true female. Superb overall picture. Beautiful feminine head with almost perfect wrinkling. Small, well placed and well carried ears, elegant neck, nice body lines, good angulation in front and rear, good bone, good feet, nice tailset and correct tail carriage. Supple skin, nice coat. Elastic movements." Aoide made the choice for reserve best bitch really difficult, but the honour went to the lovely bitch from the champion class. The great thing about Basenji Specialities is the fact that they aren't all about showing. Mirtillo performed in an agility demo and both Aoide and Mirtillo had a lot of fun at the lure coursing field. It was a wonderful day! Saturday August 17th was the German Basenji Speciality (BKD). It was a wonderful day with great company, great weather and great results! Aoide became third with an excellent in a strong intermediate class. Judge was Doreen Duffin from Australia and this is what she thought of Aoide: "Very fine quality bitch, but I would like slightly more substance for her age. Very pleasing head, good length of neck, well laid shoulders, good feet and bone, level topline, good hind quarters, with good shelf behind. Tail could be slightly higher set with a better curl." Aoide's sister Ariniti became second and Best Bitch/BOS first in the same class. Also a nice third place and an excellent for Aoide's sister Ashti in a big open class. Aoide's lovely brother Johnny became first in his class and then went on to win Best Male and Best of Breed/BISS!! Johnny and Ashti became Best brace and all four Burudika pups Best breeder group!! To top it off Aoide won "Best red and white coat" and was runner up for "Best movement" in the perfectly organized sweepstakes! What an amazing day! On Sunday there was a training at the race track in Hünstetten. The weather wasn't as great as the day before, but the dogs had a lot of fun. Did I mention it was a wonderful weekend? On the picture below are the four Burudika A-babies that were present in Trechtingshausen: Aoide, Johnny, Ariniti and Ashti. Last week I spent two days at the university clinic with Aoide and Mirtillo to get three health tests done: knees, eyes and thyroid. Below you can read the lovely results! Aoide: Patella luxation free; T4 and TSH normal; one dot of PPM on the cornea of one eye, free of other eye anomalies. Mirtillo: Patella luxation free; T4 and TSH normal; one strand of PPM iris-cornea in one eye, free of other eye anomalies. Yesterday was the national dog show in Arnhem. Aoide was entered in the youth class and she only needed one final JCAC to add the title 'Dutch Youth Champion' to her name. An exciting day! Judge was Mrs. C. Jarman from South Africa and this is what she thought of Aoide: "Very smart young bitch. Correct head, with correct wrinkles when alert. Well laid back shoulder. Good front legs and feet. Would like her to be shorter in back with higher tail set. Well handled. Moved well." Aoide got a 1 Excellent, earned the JCAC and is now Dutch Youth Champion! She also won her fourth CAC, which is enough for the Dutch Champion title as well. She only has to wait until she's 27 months before she can add this title to her name. I'm of course very proud of her! |
