2014-2015 "Shameless" litter
The Basenji is one of the few breeds with an open stud book, which makes it possible to still import, register and breed from completely unrelated specimens from Africa. The preservation of this special breed is important and the disadvantages of breeding within a small, closed population are extensively discussed in the literature. That is why I choose to use one of these special African imports for Suaralayn's first litter.
Ntomba Mosika

Mosika was imported from the Democratic Republic of the Congo by Bryan and Laurie Gregory (Jumoke Basenjis) in 2010 and lives with them in the USA.
Mosika possesses fantastic temperament with people. He is aloof with new people and objects, as can be expected with a Basenji; however once he has an opportunity to check out and dismiss any possible threat, his demeanor quickly changes to a tail wagging frenzy. Mosika is very vocal. When excited, he yodels joyfully. Fire trucks and sirens are greeted with a round of howling, and regrettably, he has a bloodcurdling scream he exhibits when he is unhappy or being restrained from chasing game. Always game for a hunt, he shows great prowess, agility and speed. This makes him into a great lure courser, not only winning Best in Field, but also earning his Field Champion title. |

Aoide Princess of Burudika

Aoide has a very friendly and open character. She is a real cuddlebug, who loves to be petted by just about everyone and who's also very sociable with other dogs. Furthermore, she is an avid hunter, both during our regular walks, as well as on the race track and the coursing field.
Although Aoide doesn't excel in terms of obedience, she finds great fun in agility and is very adept at this. Aoide has also proven herself in the show ring. She is Bundesjugendsiegerin 2012, Dutch and German youth champion, Dutch champion and well on her way to the German and International championship title. |

The puppies
Aoide gave birth to two boys and two girls, all red and white. The pedigree names of the puppies all refer to a character from the American TV series "Shameless". We are big fans of this TV series and season 5 premiered in the USA on January 11th 2015, the day the puppies were born.
