Mirtillo was allowed to show his talents at the coursing field today during the international Grand Prix coursing organised by the WRA. There were four Basenji males entered. Mirtillo ran his first course with Moyo and his second course with Bas. Both times Mirtillo was judged with the highest score and the sum of both scores placed him first!

Furthermore we had a great day with good company and nice weather. The environment was perfect for some nice off leash walks, so Aoide could stretch her legs as well.

Yesterday was the Dutch Basenji Speciality in Zaltbommel. Aoide was entered in puppy class for the last time. She was first with a very promising and became best puppy in show! This was her second time that she became best puppy in show at a speciality!

The judge was Mr. H. van den Berg and this was his opinion about Aoide:

"8 months. Beautiful total image. Very well presented. Elegant and compact. Dark, obliquely placed eyes. Good ear carriage. Good wrinkles on skull. Good proportions between skull and muzzle. Could use a bit more forechest. Tight/strong back. Good rear/hindquarters. Beautiful coat.

Excels in movement."

In the afternoon we entered Aoide and Mirtillo in the sweepstakes. Aoide won 'Best coat colour' and Mirtillo had the 'Best wrinkles'. Of course we also let the dogs course on the coursing field behind the show ground! We had a lovely day!

We were at the race track in Lelystad yesterday for the international competition 'De Zilveren Lelyren'. There were only two Basenjis entered including Tillo, so the two of them ran a demonstration run. They ran three courses in which Bas finished first all three times and Tillo came in second with good times.

Last Saturday we were in Alkmaar for the national dog show. There were three Basenjis entered and Aoide was alone in puppy class. Judge was Mrs. P.C. Zwaartman-Pinster and this was her opinion of Aoide:


"8 month old girl. Gracious total image. Very feminine. Nice head, good muzzle, ear, wrinkles and expression. Good pigmentation and bite. Good angulation. Already a good topline. tailset and buttock. Already sufficient chest and ribs. Fitting bone. Front legs need to become a bit stronger. Good coat and movement."
 
Aoide got 1 Very Promising and was allowed to show herself in the main ring in the afternoon for best puppy in show. Judge was Mrs. E. Upmeijer and she placed Aoide as second best puppy in show!! We are so proud of our little princess!

Last thursday we went to the heathland in Hilversum with a part of our agility training group. The weather was perfect for a nice long walk and dogs and owners enjoyed themselves a lot! After 2.5 hours we could hear our stomachs rumble, so on our way to the cafeteria we went! We had an enjoyable meal together, which was a perfect closure to a really nice afternoon and evening.

Sunday, September 2, we were at the sand track in Rotterdam for the national race track competition organized by WR Zuid-Holland. Mirtillo ran together with Moyo and Ch'ami. He ran two clean courses, which resulted in a second place during the first course and a first place in the final! We are very proud of Tillo's placement during his first licensed competition!

On the last day of August we went to the heathland in Hilversum with Pip, Aoide and Mirtillo. The heath is blooming at the moment and the stretched fields of purple are just stunning.
