We are very proud of Mirtillo who became BISS Veteran at the Dutch Basenji Specialty last Saturday. His daughter Torvi (Bahira of Jicho Nyota) became BISS puppy! Two of his other daughters from Germany were shown as well. Joya (Basima of JN) became second and Bee (Bea of JN) fourth in puppy class with a Very Promising. It was the first show for all three (and for the owners)! Thank you for joining and big congrats to you all!
Aoide was shown in champion class, she was placed third with an Excellent. Maeva had a day off ;) No pictures this time. The weather was just horrible, so the camera stayed in the car. We spent a lovely long weekend (or short week..) in Sweden and entered Mirtillo, Aoide and Maeva for both specialty shows. Time to post some pictures and results!
The show on Saturday was judged by Mrs. Katie Campbell (Taji's Basenjis, USA).
The show on Sunday was judged by Mrs. Sofie Krigholm (Kennel Enigma, Sweden).
It was a real joy to watch so many gorgeous Basenjis and it was a privilege to show our Basenjis to these two very experienced judges. A big thank you to Melchior, Jeroen and Marieke for their lovely company and for handling the camera! Suaralayn Chaos Junkie "Maeva" was shown at the international dog show in Rotterdam today. She won her fourth CAC, which makes her a brand new Dutch Champion!
The judge was Mrs. Rita McCarry-Beattie (IE) and this was her critique: "Very pleasing head and eye. Good reach of neck. Well placed shoulder. Nicely balanced outline. Moves very soundly in both directions. A little close behind. Excellent temperament." Last weekend was the German Basenji Speciality. Because of the forty year jubilee of the German Basenji Club the weekend was extra festive with a lovely dinner and a well known judge: Mrs. Anneli Pukkila (Sternhimmels Basenjis). Mirtillo was shown in veteran class and won his class with an Excellent. He became BOS Veteran! This was his judge report: "9 years. Veteran in excellent condition. Excellent proportions and type. Good head shape, excellent wrinkles. Well set ears. A bit round eyes. Excellent neck and topline. Short upperarm. Good rear. Would prefer a bit better forechest. Good tail and set. Excellent side movement, a bit wide and loose front. Excellent coat texture, colour and temperament." Then it was Aoide's turn. She was entered in a big champion class and got an Excellent. She wasn't placed. This was her judge report: "5 years. Excellent type, size and proportions. Very feminine head with excellent wrinkles. Good eyes and ears. Excellent neck and topline, tail set and tail. Short upper arm and lacking some fore chest. Fine bone. Good rear. Excellent coat, colour and temperament. Moves well from the side, a bit close behind." Maeva was the last one to go into the ring. She was shown in open class. She got a Very Good and wasn't placed, but she behaved perfectly in the ring. This is what the judge thought of her: "2 years. Tall bitch of very good proportions and type. Good body and bone. Enough angulation in front with a better rear. A bit long in the loin. Good tail set, one curl tail. Good head shape, excellent pigmentation, light eyes, well set, a bit big ears. Enough wrinkles. Excellent coat and colour. Moves well from the side, a bit loose in front. Excellent temperament." At the end of the day Mirtillo and Aoide were shown together. They became second best brace. After all the showing we had a lovely evening with our Basenji friends. We are already looking forward to our next German specialty!
Maeva (Suaralayn Chaos Junkie) was shown at the national dog show in Venray today. She got a 1 Excellent in open class and became reserve best bitch with reserve CAC. Judge was Mr. G. van den Bosch (BE) and he wrote a beautiful critique: "Two years old. Beautiful feminine type. Good size. Head with beautiful expression. Correctly placed and carried ears. Dark eye of good shape. Correct bite. Gorgeous neck. Good back/top line and underline. Correct tail set and carriage. Good angulation in front and rear. Wrists could be a bit stronger. Moves very easy/freely. 1 Excellent. Reserve CAC." Maeva (Suaralayn Chaos Junkie) was shown at the two international dog shows in Goes last weekend and got a 1 Excellent in open class both days.
April 15, judge: Mrs. J.P. Dekker (NL) "Large girl, but nevertheless feminine and gazelle-like. Beautifully hooded ears that are placed a bit wide. Beautiful wrinkles. Eyes a bit round. Good bite. Enough under jaw. Well developed body. Pelvis a bit long and sloping. Tail is placed low and has an open curl. Good shelf. Easy movement with a long stride. Good wrists and feet. Good coat. 1 Excellent." April 16, judge: Mr. J. Coppens (NL) "27 months old. Bitch of maximum size. Could be a bit more compact. Beautiful feminine head. Good eyes. Scissor bite. Nicely hooded ears, which are placed a bit wide. Good neck. Straight back. A bit rounded pelvis. Well placed tail. Proportional angulation. Good legs and feet, good movement. Nice temperament. 1 Excellent." Suaralayn Chaos Junkie "Maeva" was shown in open class at the international dog show in Groningen yesterday. Judge was Mr. M. Koot and this was his report:
"2 yr old feminine bitch. Beautiful compact and gazelle-like posture. Good bone and musculature. Strong female head, beautiful oval shaped eyes. Ears a bit too large, but correctly placed and carried. Nice wrinkles. Scissor bite. Enough neck and angulation in front. Correct rib(cage). Pelvis slopes too much. Tail could have been placed higher en curled tighter. Would have favored more knee angulation. Wrists and feet could have been stronger. Moves with ease. Good presentation." Maeva got a 1 Very Good. I want to thank Marieke and Marije for the great company, support, delicious chocolate and the pictures! This morning we were at the International dog show in Eindhoven. There were six Basenjis entered and the judge was Mr Pederson (NO). Maeva (Suaralayn Chaos Junkie) got a 1 Excellent in open class and became Best Female/BOS with CAC and CACIB!! She now only needs one CAC after she turns 27 months to be allowed to add 'champion' to her name!
This was Maeva's judge report: "Two years. Beautiful size. Nice proportions. Nice expression and beautiful wrinkles. Slightly wide placed ear. Beautiful topline and good chest. Nice front. Normal angulation. Nice movement. Good pigmentation. Scissor bite. Friendly behavior." I want to thank Marieke for her and Beau's company and for handling the camera! We are again very proud of our African princess Maeva! She was shown at the international Christmas show in Gorinchem and became Best of Breed! The judge was mr. E. Sistermann from Germany and this was his opinion about Maeva:
"23 months. Female with plenty of type. Excellent size. Beautiful head. Complete scissor bite. Deep dark eyes. Excellent ears. Elegant neck. Very good topline and underline. Light-footed movement. Friendly character. 1 Exc. CAC, CACIB, BOB" At the end of the day we were allowed to compete in the main ring. Maeva presented herself very well, but wasn't selected. |
