We are very excited to share that Aoide was bred to the half African male Fulani last Thursday. We are hoping to welcome a healthy litter of red and white and/or tricolor puppies at the beginning of January.

...with Aoide this coming winter! Sire to be is the handsome half-African Fulani (Kokojambo's Fani Fulani). We are expecting red/white and tricolor puppies.
Check out our puppy page for more information about this litter! Because of the amount of work we have decided to stop posting news in Dutch and English. All updates that are posted in Dutch can be found in English on my Facebook account. Important notices will still be posted here.
The puppies are already nine days old today. They grow like weeds and Rebel had already doubled his birth weight on day five. Wubbe, Maggie and Miley followed on day six. They are super content. They sleep and drink and drink and sleep... But they also have their active moments, zooming around the whelping box and climbing on top of their mother. Maeva enjoys her motherhood to the max. She's very caring and spends almost all her time with her babies.
The puppies will squeal and whine a bit when they feel like the milk isn't flowing quickly enough or when they are positioned on the wrong side of their mom. Today they discovered they can also make other sounds with their voices and we've heard the first little 'growls'. The puppies had their first visitors this week. We believe it's good for mom and babies to not be disturbed too much during the first three weeks, but we make an exception for our close family. My mother and my sister, brother-in-law and their daughter Djo were special visitors, because they were also the first to visit when Maeva was only one week old. Below you will find a selection of pictures of the first week and some of the ones we made yesterday. We collect the pictures in albums on Flickr: Week 1 Week 2 We are very proud, happy and excited to share that Suaralayn's "Turin Brakes" litter arrived Friday (Dec 1st) afternoon. Parents of this litter are Dapper - GCH Am Ch Taji's After Six JC and Maeva - NL Ch Suaralayn Chaos Junkie (50% new African) Maeva gave birth to three red and white girls and two tricolor boys. Sadly, the first girl was a stillborn. Maeva is taking wonderful care of her and Dapper's four babies and they are very vivid and strong, already climbing over their mother, bringing themselves in true Basenji trouble. Because they will be our family members during their time at our home, we have found some "litter call names" so they don't have to go by number. Puppy 1: WubbePuppy 2: RebelPuppy 3: MaggiePuppy 4: MileyThe pedigree names will be announced as soon as they are accepted by the Dutch Kennel Club.
Attached to this post are some pics of their first 24 hours. More can be found by clicking here to go to our Flickr album. Three puppies were born in the Czech Republic today sired by "our" handsome half African Tonda (Suaralayn Orange Boy). The beautiful mama is Ebun (Enzi Ebun Salasirian) and the proud breeder is Irena Peštová, Asthenia Basenjis. More information can be found on her website and pictures can be found by clicking here.
The image and videos say it all: today we confirmed Maeva's pregnancy with an ultrasound! We expect the Dapper x Maeva puppies around December 4th. The big count down has begun: Maeva has mated with Dapper in the Czech Republic last Wednesday, October 4th! At the beginning of November we hope the ultrasound will confirm her pregnancy! Below you can find some pictures of Maeva's and Dapper's meeting.
Tonda (Suaralayn Orange Boy) spent his holiday in the Netherlands last week, together with his owners and Basenji brothers. They arrived on Saturday and joined us at the Basenji Cup on Sunday, where Tonda won a beautiful second place! On Tuesday we went to the zoo with six Basenjis and Tonda and his family came for dinner on Thursday night. It was an absolute joy to see them all again!
