The puppies are already nine days old today. They grow like weeds and Rebel had already doubled his birth weight on day five. Wubbe, Maggie and Miley followed on day six. They are super content. They sleep and drink and drink and sleep... But they also have their active moments, zooming around the whelping box and climbing on top of their mother. Maeva enjoys her motherhood to the max. She's very caring and spends almost all her time with her babies.
The puppies will squeal and whine a bit when they feel like the milk isn't flowing quickly enough or when they are positioned on the wrong side of their mom. Today they discovered they can also make other sounds with their voices and we've heard the first little 'growls'.
The puppies had their first visitors this week. We believe it's good for mom and babies to not be disturbed too much during the first three weeks, but we make an exception for our close family. My mother and my sister, brother-in-law and their daughter Djo were special visitors, because they were also the first to visit when Maeva was only one week old.
