The Dutch Basenji Club celebrated its 15th birthday on June 13th! Reason enough to have a two day event at a beautiful location near a dog beach. There was a BBQ, a group walk on the beach and a camp fire on Friday evening. The show and the lure coursing, and more beach walks, were planned for Saturday. Besides the beautiful location and wonderful activities, we also won from Spain with 5-1 (Yes, we were even able to watch soccer ;)), we were blessed with nice weather and great company! Only Aoide was entered for the show. Judge was Irene Horner from Great Britain and although the entry was low, she turned this event into something very interesting! After she finished judging a class, she explained to everyone what she liked and didn't like about the dogs and why she placed them the way she did. Very educational! It was Aoide's first time in the champion class. She got a 1 Excellent and ended up as reserve best bitch! After the official classes, there were sweepstakes. Mirtillo did participate in this part of the show and he won the titles 'Best head' and 'Best frown'. Aoide was handled by my niece and she won the title 'Beste coat colour'. It was an amazing weekend! |
